We have a prosperous and innovative economy

Central Bedfordshire already has fantastic opportunities for education and work. A crucial part of the South East Midlands economy, Central Bedfordshire also sits centrally within the Oxford-Cambridge Corridor, a position which brings significant economic potential, especially in high value sectors.

We want to broaden and build this offer. Improving skills in existing key sectors including agri-food, the visitor economy, high performing technology and transport and logistics will ensure we build on our strengths and benefit from our brightest institutions such as Cranfield University. We will also recognise and realise the benefits of lifelong learning to deliver a truly inclusive and diverse economy. Anticipating changes in the way we work will mean we develop more flexible hubs and space for collaboration, discussion and production.

The following four ambition statements explain how we will reach this outcome.
